Llantrisant

William Price

Beautiful morning out around Llantrisant today. William Price ( 4 march 1800-23 January 1893 ) was a Welsh Physician who lived in Llantrisant and I’m guessing,a little eccentric. He probably had many labels. Druid being one of them. He set up his own Druid group that attracted a number of followers. Little is known about what he preached but the locals seemed to like it. Prices first child, a son was born on 8 August 1883 and Price thought

I know, I’ll name him Lesu Grist (Jesus Christ in Welsh) He expected great things from his child but unfortunately the child died only 5 months later on 10th January 1884. Believing it wrong to bury a corpse and worrying about the pollution that would cause the earth, Price made the decision to cremate his sons body high on the hilltop in Llantrisant
Locals noticed the smoke and called the police. The police came and arrested Price and managed to take the body of his son from the fire.It was then discovered that the child had died of natural causes and Price was set free after an argument in court over the law of cremation and how the law did not state that cremation was legal, but at the same time,it also did not state that is was illegal either. It is believed that William was suffering from an undiagnosed mental illness. The most interesting people always do suffer in my opinion. ♡FB_IMG_1534178345719.jpg
